Welcome to Basel, the cultural gateway to the Rhine

Welcome to Basel, a vibrant cultural capital at the crossroads of Switzerland, France, and Germany, and the gateway to the Rhine River.

Upon arrival, guests will be met by a Transcend Cruises representative and transferred to our floating boutique hotel, The Nobleman, docked in the heart of the city. After embarkation and lunch onboard, enjoy a relaxed afternoon to settle into your stateroom or begin discovering Basel at your own pace.

This evening, gather with fellow travelers for an exclusive opening performance onboard, followed by a welcome reception and dinner—setting the tone for an unforgettable musical journey ahead.

The Experience:

Today is dedicated to exploring Basel’s rich artistic and musical heritage. Widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading cultural centers, Basel is home to world-class institutions, a beautifully preserved Old Town, and a deep connection to classical and contemporary music.

This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour through Basel’s historic city center, highlighting its architecture, public art, and cultural landmarks. The experience continues with a special visit to the Paul Sacher Foundation, an internationally renowned archive dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century music, housing manuscripts and collections from some of the most influential composers of modern times.

Following our morning program, enjoy time to relax or explore at your own pace before the ship departs Basel later this afternoon. In the evening, gather with fellow travelers for a welcoming onboard reception and dinner as our journey along the Rhine begins.

Strasbourg, France

The Experience:

Arrive in Strasbourg, a captivating city where French and German cultures meet. With its winding canals, half-timbered houses, and beautifully preserved historic center, Strasbourg offers a unique blend of architectural charm, cultural depth, and artistic tradition.

This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour through Strasbourg’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its medieval streets, iconic landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere. The day’s program also includes a special visit to the Opéra national du Rhin, one of France’s leading operatic institutions, providing insight into its artistic mission, history, and role in the region’s musical life. When possible, this visit may be complemented by a brief musical presentation.

Guests will have additional time to enjoy the city at a relaxed pace before we continue our journey along the Rhine later this evening.

Mannheim - Mainz, Germany

Day 4

The Experience:

This morning brings us to Mannheim, a dynamic city with deep ties to music, innovation, and the arts. Often associated with the development of classical and modern musical traditions, Mannheim played an important role in shaping European cultural history.

Today’s program features a curated visit to the Museum Bassermannhaus für Musik und Kunst, where guests will explore the intersection of musical heritage, artistic expression, and regional cultural identity. The visit is complemented by a short guided stroll through Mannheim’s city center, highlighting sites and stories connected to the city’s musical legacy.

Following our time in Mannheim, we continue our journey along the Rhine toward Mainz, one of Germany’s oldest cities and an important center of culture and learning. We arrive in Mainz later today, where the ship will remain docked overnight.

Mainz - Rüdesheim am Rhein, Germany

Day 5

Friday, June 26, 2026

The Experience:

This morning begins in Mainz, one of Germany’s oldest cities and an important cultural center along the Rhine. Guests will enjoy a guided exploration of the historic Old Town, including a visit to the St. Stephen’s Church, home to the remarkable blue stained-glass windows designed by Marc Chagall. Flooded with mystical blue light, this space offers a deeply moving artistic and spiritual experience unlike any other in Europe.

The morning continues with a visit to the Gutenberg Museum, dedicated to Johannes Gutenberg and the invention of the printing press—an achievement that transformed communication, culture, and learning worldwide.

Following our time in Mainz, we journey into the heart of the Rhine Valley, enjoying scenic cruising past vineyard-covered hills and storybook villages. By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Rüdesheim am Rhein, a town celebrated for its centuries-old wine tradition.

Here, guests will enjoy a wine tasting experience, preceded by a charming one-way mini-train ride offering elevated views of the town and surrounding vineyards. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore Rüdesheim’s walkable Old Town or relax and savor the rhythm of the Rhine.

Rüdesheim am Rhein - Koblenz, Germany

Day 6

Saturday, June 27, 2026

The Experience:

Today features one of the most scenic stretches of the Rhine River as we cruise through the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its vineyard-covered hills, dramatic cliffs, medieval castles, and legendary landmarks lining the riverbanks.

Upon arrival in Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, guests will enjoy a guided exploration of the city center, revealing Koblenz’s rich history and charming Old Town. Highlights include a visit to the impressive Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, dramatically positioned high above the river, offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.

The day also includes a visit to the Beethoven-Haus Koblenz (Mother’s House), the birthplace of Beethoven’s mother, providing a meaningful musical connection and insight into the composer’s family history.

Special onboard moments are planned to complement the day’s breathtaking scenery as we continue our journey along the Rhine.

Bonn, Germany

Day 7

The Experience:

Arrive in Bonn, the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and a city inseparable from the history of classical music. Today’s experiences are devoted to honoring Beethoven’s life, legacy, and enduring influence.

This morning begins with a private visit to the Beethoven-Haus, the composer’s birthplace and one of the world’s most important musical museums. The visit is accompanied by a special musical performance, offering a rare and deeply moving opportunity to experience Beethoven’s music in the very place where his story began. A guided walking tour of Bonn’s historic center further highlights the city’s cultural and musical heritage.

In the afternoon, we continue to nearby Königswinter for a visit to Drachenfels Castle, dramatically set high above the Rhine. Ascending by cog railway, guests will enjoy sweeping views of the river valley before exploring the castle grounds and gardens.

This evening, gather with fellow travelers for a festive farewell celebration, marking a fitting conclusion to our journey through Europe’s musical heart and the shared experiences that have defined our time along the Rhine.

The Experience:

Disembark in Cologne, home to Germany’s most iconic cathedral.

Guests will either depart for the airport or continue onward to the optional post-cruise program in Amsterdam.
